Signal when necessary

Signal before you change direction.
Signal your intention in good time to allow other road users time to react.
Don’t signal too early. This can be misleading.
Before signalling, consider this:-
• Is your signal misleading?
• Is your signal helpful?

• Misleading – don’t signal
• Helpful – signal

All road users will benefit from a good signal, including pedestrians & cyclists.
If there are no road users around you may think you don’t need a signal.
If you are near a bend or a junction another vehicle may come around the corner, they will benefit from your signal.
Only give clear helpful signals.
